Cosmix 12 – Mr. C

“The music on this mix is timeless and spans four decades of beautiful cosmic music.” – Mr C’s Cosmix includes music from KLF, Manuel Göttsching, Cabaret Voltaire, The Shamen feat Terrence McKenna, Cybertron, Mathew Jonson and more… Welcome to the space rave.

It’s an honour to host a Cosmix from Mr C. I grew up listening to The Shamen telling me Ezeer Goode on ‘Top of the Pops’ and I spent most of my formative rave years partying at his and Layo’s club The End, in London… I used to love going through the big metal doors to descend into the underground main room, where my favourite DJs would be playing in a circular DJ booth silhouetted by neon light, as they channeled techno magic from outer space to the dance floor.

Soon to celebrate its 14th anniversary, Mr’s C’s label and club night, Superfreq, has a new quarterly residency beginning March 2016, in London at The Steel Yard. If you have ever frequented his Superfreq nights in Ibiza (at Underground and DC10), or in LA, Mexico or New York (and more), you will know that they are always something a bit different. Superfreq attracts people looking for a certain magic in the music and a departure from the ‘normal’ reality in which we exist.

Mr C is a lover of fun, quite twisted in a good way, and has a very conscious and higher dimensional thinking disposition (as a few people ‘in the rave’ seem to have). Check below for his multi dimensional Cosmix and interview.

Tell us about the mix

The music on this mix is timeless and spans four decades of beautiful cosmic music. It’s 1.45 hours long but I could’ve easily gone on for double that time and it was so difficult after digging through my vinyl to decide what not to put on. It’s an all vinyl mix except for one song. It starts ambient, then goes deep house and builds through house, acid, tech house, electro and techno.

Where was it recorded?

In my good friend and Superfreq label partner Noël Jackson’s living room.

How would you like for people to feel when they hear this music?

I’d like them to feel like they’re connected and smiling all over, both inside and out.

Music is?

Music is meditative and connects us to the absolute. It does this as it’s an escape from the thoughts about the problems of yesterday and the possible solutions of tomorrow, bringing us completely into the moment where the illusions of yesterday and tomorrow do not exist. Music is one of the great agents of Human evolution and a celebration of life.

How has music helped to sculpt and guide you in life?

By bringing me into the moment connecting me as One with the Absolute, in very much the same way that meditation does. Music has made me more compassionate & caring. It fills me with a certain joy that I want to share with everyone.

What does the word ‘cosmic’ mean to you?

The word cosmic to me means beautiful and celestial yet spacey and out there. It makes me think of a journey into the cosmos via my own Consciousness connecting as One with Universal Consciousness.

Please can you give us a cosmic book that moves you

The Geeta‘, which is an English translation of the Bhagavad Gita and is the most cosmic read you’ll ever have.

What do you think is the role of the DJ in the modern world?

The only role of the DJ is to help people come into the moment to celebrate life and form a telepathic community. What is taken from this experience can then be taken out into the mainstream of society for the good of all.

How can we make the world a better place?

By treating everyone as we ourselves would like to be treated, without exception.

Are there any causes that you support, that you would like to bring into awareness?

I support many causes but have recently been helping raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and also Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London.

Your favourite cosmic website?

Cosmic Pineapple of course.

Your starsign?

I’m a Capricorn with my rising sign on 06 degrees Taurus.

A pineapple fact?

Eating pineapples are great for helping heal broken bones.

A music fact?

There are only two types of music, good and bad. Of course we love the good shit. ;)

LOVE the mix. Been following Mr. C for over 2 decades now, and this is a prime example of why.

Any chance for a download link? Mixcloud is fine and all, but they only stream at 64k and don’t allow downloads, and I’d really like to take this into the workshop and plug it into my PA. 64k sounds like arse on a proper PA.
