On July 15th, dance music artist, Seth Troxler, will join nine others on a ten-day climb of Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise money and awareness for brain cancer organisation, Cure Brain Cancer. Support the cause!
Between July 15th – 25th, Troxler will join Australian neurosurgeon, Charlie Teo’s Million$Mission to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, to help raise funds and awareness to cure brain cancer.
The target for the mission is $1 million Australian dollars, with Troxler’s personal goal set at $1,00,000 Australian dollars. Troxler took to social networks to help raise funds, stating:
“This July I’m climbing kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to help fight brain cancer. We have set an ambitious team fundraising target of $1 million (my personal target is 100k) but with the help of my 700k followers on social, I truly believe this is achievable. How incredible would it be to use the power of social media to raise such a huge amount for a great cause? So, please, take a minute to share this video, tag your friends, and head to this link to donate if you can. Every little truly does help.” (via Facebook)
This is not the first time Troxler has stood up in the dance music community to raise awareness for a good cause. Back in October he cooked a three-course meal for homeless people in Amsterdam during ADE, as part of the 10,000 Hours foundation initiative, and he has been proactive in the past for Red Dot Relief and Kids Company.
According to curebraincancer, the funds would be used to facilitate research into increasing the survival rate among child brain cancer patients, from the current 20% to 50% by 2023.
More children and adults under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than from any other cancer. To learn more on the different types and symptoms, check here.
At 5,895m (19,341 feet), Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano comprising of three volcanic cones, Shira, Kibo (on which Uhuru summit stands) and Mawenzi. It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world.
