A monthly journey into to the weirder, wilder side of the TED archives. March 2017: Chris Jordan ‘Turning powerful stats into art’
How many plastic cups do you think are used every 6 hours on airline flights in the US? 1 million. That’s 4 million plastic cups in 24 hours, virtually none of which are recycled. Damn. And what do one million plastic cups look like? When Chris Jordan’s at the controls, pretty cool. He visualises crazy stats into art. Like the 40 million paper cups we use every day. 40 million. Every day. Mostly for coffee. A picture’s worth a thousand words, or a million plastic cups, or 2.3 million prison uniforms.
