Acid Mondays are two men on a conscious music and mind mission. Check the messages in the music within this thought provoking extra special Cosmix number 11.

In the past year Acid Mondays – AKA Negghead and Lex Wolf – have risen to prominence. They released on Guy Gerber’s Rumours, Yousef’s Circus Recordings and remixed for R&S, Hotflush and King Street – gaining support from DJs including Laurent Garnier, Seth Troxler, Ben UFO, B Traits, Matthew Dear and Apollonia. UK born but Ibiza based, they played their first sets for Circo Loco and El Row Ibiza last summer, as well as dates at fabric, Tenax, BPM, Circus and more. Avid searchers of truth, for Cosmix number 11 Acid Mondays went deep into the musical and mental cosmos, with music from Bjork, Aphex Twin, Nightmares On Wax and Sun Ra, and some thought provoking wisdom from Carl Sagan and Ekhart Tolle.

Tell us about the mix

We were really excited to do this mix as we both have a lot of all kinds of weird and wonderful music, so to be able to put a mix together and express this side of ourselves with no other remit than to make it as cosmic as possible was great! We wanted to make something that not only would be nice to listen to, but that would also stimulate thoughts or questions within the listener and ultimately make people feel good.

Where was it recorded?

This mix was recorded in our studio in Ibiza.

How would you like for people to feel when they hear this music?

Amazing, uplifted, harmonised, peaceful, inspired, excited and anything else that brings them closer to their true self.

Music is?

Life! Everything in the universe is made of energy, from giant galaxies right down to the tiniest particles and all of these things and everything in-between vibrates and has a frequency. So when you look at reality like that then you could say we are made from music and all you have to do is match the frequency of the reality you want and you’ll experience that reality.

How has music helped to sculpt and guide you in life?

Dan: Music has guided me through my entire life on a constant journey of discovery. It’s manifested in many different forms and experiences but its always led me to where i needed to be. Also most, if not all, of the friends and people in my life today have connected with me though music in one way or another including Alex who I’ve made this mix with.

Alex: Music is my energy it is constant and feeds every moment.

What does the word ‘cosmic’ mean to you?

What do you think is the role of the DJ in the modern world?

To bring people together to celebrate life and dance to the same beat.

How can we make the world a better place?

Dan: Whatever situation you’re experiencing with yourself or another always try to give it more love not less.

Alex: Stay true to your word. Don’t Take things personally. Don’t assume anything and always do your best!

Are there any causes that you support, that you would like to bring into awareness?

Nordoff Robbins is a charity that helps underprivileged children and adults have a better quality of life through music therapy. There trained network of music therapists work with people of all ages and with a range of conditions delivering thousands of music therapy sessions per year in care homes, day centres, hospitals, schools and their own centres.
